Childhood Imprints: Understanding the Patterns That Hold Us Back as Soulpreneurs

Dec 29, 2022

I’ve spent the last 20 years studying human development & potential and spent 15 of those years as an early childhood educator in the most prestigious schools on the west coast. Now as a mentor to soulpreneurs, I’ve seen firsthand how childhood imprints can hold cycle breakers back from thriving in business.

These imprints, which are the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that we develop in childhood and carry with us into adulthood, can have a significant impact on our lives and can sometimes hold us back from reaching our full potential.

Here are a few common childhood imprints that I have observed in my clients that can hold cycle breakers back from thriving as soulpreneurs:

  1. Lack of self-worth or self-confidence: Childhood experiences of rejection or criticism can lead to low self-worth or self-confidence. This can make it difficult for cycle breakers to believe in themselves and their abilities, which may hold them back from pursuing their dreams and goals as soulpreneurs.
  2. Fear of failure: Experiencing failure or criticism in childhood can lead to a fear of failure as an adult. This can make it difficult for cycle breakers to take risks and embrace new challenges as soulpreneurs, which may hold them back from reaching their full potential.
  3. Difficulty setting and holding boundaries: If a child was not taught how to set and enforce healthy boundaries, they may struggle with this as an adult. This can make it difficult for cycle breakers to set healthy boundaries with clients and colleagues as soulpreneurs, which can lead to burnout and stress. This can also impact their ability to hold clients accountable for payments and contracts.
  4. Difficulty with self-care and self-compassion: If a child was not taught the importance of self-care and self-compassion, they may struggle with these concepts as an adult. This can make it difficult for cycle breakers to prioritize their own well-being and self-care as soulpreneurs, which can lead to burnout and stress.

While these imprints are common ones that may hold you back, once you become aware of them and understand that they are just that: Imprints, you can begin to dismantle them.

Start by becoming aware of the times on your soulpreneurship journey where you feel limited, contracted, or afraid. For example, when you go to share about your new offering do you feel scared it might be rejected, judged or criticized? Examine that to see if it is connected to past experiences in childhood. Remind yourself that childhood has passed and that it is now safe to put yourself out there, take risks, and have fun sharing your gifts with others.

Mantra:  “I am safe to share my gifts”

If you find these imprints holding you back in ways that are impacting your progress and prosperity, you may want to seek the support of a mentor or facilitator who specializes in deconditioning and inner child healing.

This is a big part of the work I do with my 1:1 clients. Most highly successful soulpreneurs encounter childhood imprints & conditioning that holds them back from time to time.

When you come into a mentorship program with me, I support you in dismantling any imprints in the way of your success.
