You Know More Than You're Saying. Your Nervous System Won't Let You Say It
Jun 04, 2026You wake up with that inspired message, the one that sets your heart on fire but when you go to type it out it feels like a wet rag comes in to dampen your words and something far less powerful spills out.
You can feel it in the moment it's happening... its that immediate softening of the thing you were about to say. The rate you quoted a new client that was $500 less than the what you planned. The post you wrote with your full truth and then edited, sentence by sentence, into something that won't make anyone uncomfortable (especially aunt Sally who still reads all your posts).
You are playing smaller publicly than your actual depth justifies. And you know it.
You have built a body of work, sacred, meaningful work that changes lives. You have testimonials that would make your younger self weep with pride. You have years of inner work that most people in your field haven't come close to. You've sat with clients in the places most practitioners fear to go. You know more, by leaps and bounds, than the 23-year-old life coach who is somehow pulling in more cash per month than you made in a year at your corporate job.
And yet...
When it comes to speaking your full truth or owning the true value of your work without guilt, you find yourself withholding.
This is a gap that no rebrand will close. No new offer architecture solves it. No amount of market research tells you how to stop softening the thing that actually needs to be said.
HINT: It's is not a confidence problem.
You are not confused about your value. You know how powerful the medicine is that you carry. You are not lacking awareness. You are extraordinarily self-aware. The issue is that your body has a different read on the situation than your conscious mind does.
Every time you reach for the full expression of what you know (the unedited truth, the real rate, the message that will absolutely ruffle feathers) your nervous system fires a warning. DANGER! Pull back. Soften it. Make it safer. Because somewhere in your system, a very old piece of code is running. And it is overriding everything you consciously know to be true.
This is the somatic signature of self-abandonment.
Before you were seven years old, your nervous system made some decisions about what was safe to express. Which parts of you the people around you could handle. Which version of you earned love, approval, belonging. And which version of you, the full one, the unfiltered one, the one who took up all the space she needed, triggered something that felt like danger.
Your system encoded that information. And it has been running it (unconsciously) ever since.
This is why you can spend a decade doing the inner work (the therapy, the shadow work, the certifications, the retreats) and still find your hand hovering over the "publish" button while you quietly edit yourself into something that won't upset anyone. Because this pattern doesn't live in your conscious mind. It lives in your body. In the alarm that fires every time you approach the true magnitude of what you actually came here to say.
Not because you aren't ready. Because your nervous system doesn't yet believe it is safe to be fully seen.
The visibility blocks you're experiencing aren't a messaging problem. They aren't a branding problem. They are your nervous system doing exactly what a nervous system running a survival protocol does: keeping you small enough to stay safe.
And the only thing that changes a survival protocol is not another framework. Not another coach who tells you to "own your worth." It is somatic work, going below the cognitive layer to the place in your body where the decision to withhold was first made, and building, slowly and deliberately, the capacity to be fully seen without it feeling like exile.
Build the capacity to hold the magnitude of your mission.
The shift is not a mindset shift. You have had plenty of those. The shift is somatic: the intentional, deliberate work of teaching your nervous system that full your expression will not exile you. That your real rate will not cost you belonging. That the truth you have been carefully editing is, in fact, exactly what they need to hear (yes even aunt Sally).
The woman who leads her mission fully, who owns her rates without apology, who says the unedited spicy truth, who lets herself be as visible as her calling requires... is not a different woman than you are. She is you, after your nervous system has learned that it is safe to hold that much.
That is the only distance between where you are and where you know you belong.
If you are ready to stop managing your reputation and start leading your mission:
Begin here:
Threshold is a 90-minute somatic workshop for the visionary who keeps pulling back right at the edge of full expression. The one who knows her value, has done the inner work, and still finds herself withholding, because her nervous system hasn't yet learned that it is safe to be fully seen.
Inside Threshold, you will learn to recognize the survival pattern the moment it activates and move through it using somatic tools that work at the level where it actually lives. The result is not more confidence as a concept. It is nervous system capacity as a felt reality: the ability to hold the full magnitude of your mission without editing or softening.
